NEW YORK
Oxford Properties Group (“Oxford”), a leading global real estate investor, developer and manager, officially announced the appointments of two senior leaders into newly created roles based in New York. Longtime Oxford executive Dean Shapiro has been named the organization’s new Global Head of Development, while Diana Shieh has joined Oxford as Head of US Asset Management.
Shapiro will manage Oxford’s development platform activity globally, which, with 70 active projects spanning from Vancouver, Canada to Sydney, Australia, is one of the most active global development platforms. Shapiro’s tenure at Oxford spans more than 12 years, holding multiple senior roles, including Head of US Development and Head of Strategic Partnerships. Notably, Shapiro led Oxford’s delivery and ongoing operations of St. John’s Terminal, the vanguard Manhattan office development sold to Google for US$2.1 billion in 2022—one of the largest US office trades of the pandemic period.
“Oxford has been on a remarkable growth journey,” commented Daniel Fournier, Executive Chair of Oxford Properties. “Today Oxford is invested in eight asset classes across 14 countries and operates across four continents - however, we are one team and one business. As such, appointing a Global Head of Development is a natural progression, enabling us to take a truly holistic view of our development pipeline. Dean’s leadership and deep expertise will help us best leverage our capabilities globally, ensuring development remains a core competitive advantage as we deliver the best overall return for OMERS and our capital partners.”
Shieh, as Head of US Asset Management, will provide oversight to portfolio-wide strategies, further develop the long-term vision, and drive asset-level value for Oxford’s US portfolio. Prior to joining Oxford, Shieh was global Co-Head of Portfolio & Asset Management at Madison International Realty, with responsibility for Madison’s domestic and international investment portfolio, spanning over US$8.5 billion of AUM.
“We are incredibly pleased to have Diana on board to lead our Asset Management team at Oxford,” remarked Chris Mundy, Head of US Life Science, Office and Residential at Oxford Properties. “Diana is a highly experienced professional with a proven track record of strategy development, business planning and cross collaboration with key stakeholders that will greatly bolster the strength of our team and make a significant impact on our US portfolio.”
Shapiro and Shieh boast more than 30 years, and 20 years respectively of real estate experience across a range of top firms in the New York metropolitan area. Shapiro previously served as COO and Partner at Building & Land Technology and was a former Executive Managing Director of CBRE, where he led the organization’s New York business. Shieh’s career includes time at Rockwood Capital and Shorenstein Properties, where she managed the group’s 7+ million square foot commercial real estate portfolio.
